Sungrow Unveils Next-Generation Residential Energy Storage System with Advanced Features and New Models
Sungrow, a global leader in inverter and energy storage solutions, has officially launched its latest-generation hybrid residential energy storage system. This new system, centered around the upgraded MG Series inverters and the forthcoming MGL060 battery, promises homeowners greater energy independence, enhanced performance, and a more streamlined experience. This launch builds upon the success of their popular SHRS and SBR series, offering significant advancements in power, efficiency, and user control.
The Heart of the System: The New MG Series Inverters
At the core of this next-generation system are the new MG Series hybrid inverters. This series offers a power range from 5kW to 10kW, catering to a wide variety of residential needs. The MG5RL and MG6RL models are already on the market, while the higher-capacity MG8RL and MG10RL models are slated for release in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Key features of the MG Series inverters include:
- High Overload Capacity: The inverters can deliver up to 200% overload output for 10 seconds, making it possible to power demanding appliances like air conditioners and washing machines during a blackout.
- Seamless Backup Power: In the event of a grid outage, the system switches to backup mode in a mere 4 milliseconds, ensuring an uninterrupted power supply with no noticeable flicker or shutdown of appliances.
- Impressive Efficiency: With up to 200% DC input and 160% maximum output capacity, a 6kW inverter can simultaneously provide 6kW of AC power to the home while charging the battery with 3.6kW of DC power from the solar panels.
- PID Zero Technology: Sungrow’s patented PID (Potential Induced Degradation) ZERO technology actively recovers and prevents long-term power loss in solar panels caused by heat and humidity, ensuring the longevity and efficiency of the entire system.
- High-Current Input: The inverters support up to 20A input current, making them compatible with a wide range of high-power PV modules available on the market.
Advanced Energy Storage: The New MGL060 Battery
Pairing with the new inverters is the MGL060 battery, also expected in Q4 2025. This new battery leverages large-capacity 314 Ah LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells, delivering an impressive 8,000-cycle lifespan, which is claimed to be triple the industry average. Its pack-level DC/DC energy optimization allows for each cell group to operate independently, improving overall efficiency and allowing for the flexible mixing of new and old battery modules.
For homeowners who don’t want to wait, Sungrow’s existing SBR series of high-voltage LFP batteries (with models like the SBR096, SBR128, etc.) are compatible with the currently available MG Series inverters. These modular batteries can be scaled from 9.6kWh up to 25.6kWh.

Smart and User-Friendly
The entire system is managed through Sungrow’s iSolarCloud platform, accessible via a mobile app and web portal. This provides real-time data (with a 10-second refresh rate), online IV curve scanning for diagnostics, and smart energy management features. One standout feature is a “one-tap” storm-ready function that allows users to quickly charge the battery from the grid in anticipation of extreme weather, providing peace of mind when it’s needed most.
With the launch of its next-generation residential energy storage system, Sungrow is offering homeowners a powerful and intelligent solution to take control of their energy usage, reduce their reliance on the grid, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
